Held as part of UK House and led by the Department for International Trade, Tourism Day was held during the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games and focused on the legacy of the Games and how it could drive bookings to the city and region.
Dame Judith Macgregor chaired a panel discussion on harnessing major events to drive regional dispersal of visitors, as well as a Ministerial Roundtable with Tourism Minister Nigel Huddleston to discuss destination management in the context of the recently published government response to the DMO review and a recent call for evidence on registration of accommodation.
International travel media and trade from India also joined the event to meet and do business with UK suppliers from the West Midlands region.
