At the British Tourist Authority trading as VisitBritain/VisitEngland we focus on providing an inclusive screening, shortlisting and interview process that allows us to assess the candidates we recruit based on their skillset and potential. This means that our recruitment process is Fair and Open and we recruit candidates on Merit.
We hire people whose values align with our organisational values, while also adding something unique to our teams.
To apply for a role you will need to create an account on our recruitment site.
After registration, you can complete an online application form for the vacancies listed.
Please review the job description before applying and make sure you use the personal statement section to highlight how your qualifications, skills and experience match the job requirements.
Applications can be saved at any stage, reviewed and edited before final submission being made. You will also be asked to affirm that you have the Right-to-Work in your application. Please note the Eligibility Check and Employment Status section of the application form cannot be amended once you have progressed to the next section of the application form. Therefore, please ensure that your details are correct before proceeding forward.
There are eight sections that applicants need to complete as part of the application form.
- Personal Details
- Diversity Monitoring
- Educational Qualifications
- References (must cover last 3 years' employment)
- Employment History
- Personal Statement
- Declaration
- Confirmation
Applicants may be asked to answer job-specific questions as part of their application.
Please note that your application is important to us. While we would like to be able to connect with every applicant, we regret that the volume of applications on a global scale does not always allow our team to make personal contact with everyone that applies.
What to expect after submitting an application
Your application will be reviewed and evaluated against the job description and person specification. Following the shortlisting process, successful candidates will be invited to attend a competency and scenario based interview either in person or via video conferencing. Our competencies-based interviewing process is intended to help us to eliminate unconscious bias while also making sure we recruit candidates who will thrive within our organisation. Our selection process allows us to gain a deeper understanding of candidates’ skill set and our interview panel will always consist of two or more members.
For some roles, it is highly likely that two rounds of interviews are conducted to fully understand the skills and experience that candidates can bring to our organisation.
Following the interviews, candidates will be contacted about the outcome based on Merit - with successful candidates receiving a verbal offer followed by an email containing the official written offer and Contract of Employment to review, sign and return along with relevant documents for onboarding.
As part of the onboarding process, successful candidates’ referees would be contacted, and successful candidates would be asked to complete an application for a Security clearance or Disclosure and Barring Services (DBS) check. The cost incurred towards this would be reimbursed by VisitBritain/VisitEngland upon completing expense claim.
Due to the volume of applications, it is not always possible for us to provide feedback to candidates at the shortlisting stage. However, unsuccessful candidates at the interview stage can request for feedback by writing to us on Recruitment@visitbritain.org
