Caring for visitors
- Three- or four-star hotels tend to be the favoured form of holiday accommodation, with an eagerness for value for money and a warm personal welcome.
- Belgians like to take time over their meals, and take pride in their cuisine.
- Belgians are comfortable paying for goods and services with a credit card when on holiday.
The leisure and travel trade
- Group operators, especially those providing school and youth travel, are an important sector of the travel trade selling Britain. However the rising costs for travelling to Britain (on the ground costs + passport & ETA requirement) are a serious threat to this sector who is reporting a declining trend in school and group bookings.
- Most Belgians book a holiday to Britain directly on the internet. Belgium traditionally has a strong short break market, especially to places within easy reach such as the south east of England and London. Here again rising costs are mentioned as an obstacle.
- It is wise to be on time for meetings. When planning a direct business meeting it is best to do it during office hours. When planning an event like a trade networking night it is best to host it after office hours. Belgian travel agents and tour operators don’t want to be away from their offices too long in the day time.
