Engaging strategically. Providing advice. Sharing tools and resources. We work closely with Local Enterprise Partnerships (LEPs) in all sorts of ways to support the growth of the visitor economy. 

Targeted support

LEPs (PDF, 1.2MB) can play a vital role in building the value of tourism in Britain, For LEPs prioritising the visitor economy, we provide support, advice and guidance, as well as sharing good practice and learning.

For LEPs where tourism could play a bigger part in economic growth, we offer support through wider activities, like skills, transport and infrastructure plans. 

We support LEPs where tourism is not a priority but could contribute to economic growth through wider activities such as skills, transport and infrastructure plans. We also feed into the LEP Network with tourism content, tools and resources, and discussion threads. 

Fuelling growth 

To highlight how tourism can support LEP priorities and growth objectives, we’ve developed a visitor economy growth paper (PDF, 736KB). The paper responds to a number of information requests we have received from LEPs and BIS local teams' queries and provides more information and detail as requested.

 

Support and advice

  • Strategic engagement across Government so departments responsible for  LEP policy, funding and planning understand the value and growth potential of the visitor economy
  • Working with Destination Organisations to provide advice and guidance on how to have quality conversations with LEPs, increasing their potential to influence the LEP’s strategic plan and access appropriate funding
  • Working directly with LEPs to provide expertise and support around  growth opportunities.
