Accommodation update - Mars 2025

Contenu en Anglais. Britain’s hotel scene is gearing up for spring with a wave of new openings and ambitious refurbishments. From a Michelin-starred dining destination in Scotland to a boutique escape in the South Downs, London welcomes travellers with sleek city stays, while the Lake District prepares for the revival of a historic icon. Whether it is countryside retreats, urban sophistication or adventure-driven getaways, here’s our accommodation round-up for March 2025.

Crossbasket Castle, High Blantyre, Lanarkshire, Scotland 

Opening 16 March 2025 

Located in High Blantyre, near Glasgow, the five-star Crossbasket Castle Hotel is set to unveil a significant expansion in March 2025. This £20 million development introduces 40 bedrooms, including grand and junior suites, deluxe, and classic rooms, all featuring handcrafted furnishings. A highlight of the expansion will be Trocadero’s Restaurant and Cocktail Bar, overseen by Michelin-starred chef Michel Roux Jr., offering an entertainment-led dining experience with live music and a state-of-the-art sound system. Further facilities, such as the Four Angels Spa and eco-friendly cottages, are set to open in autumn 2025. 

The Alfriston, Alfriston, East Sussex, England 

Opening March 2025 

The Alfriston, the latest venture by The Signet Collection, opens its doors in March 2025. Nestled in the historic South Downs village of Alfriston, in East Sussex, this boutique hotel will feature 38 rooms and suites that blend rural period charm with contemporary touches. Guests will be able to indulge in locally sourced dishes at the hotel’s 1554 Brasserie or unwind with cocktails in the lounge and orangery. For wellness enthusiasts, the hotel will offer a spa with treatment rooms, a sauna, steam room and a heated outdoor swimming pool. 

Templeton Gardens, London, England 

Opening April 2025 

Templeton Garden will mark lifestyle hotel brand Miiro’s debut in London, situated in the historic neighbourhood of Kensington. Set to comprise 156 rooms and suites, the interiors will feature an understated design with natural colours and materials. A highlight will be the Templeton Garden Suite with private garden and a king size four-poster bed. Guests will be able to enjoy on-site dining at the modern British restaurant or relax with a drink at the cocktail bar. Other amenities will include a refresh room and state-of-the-art gym.  

Plas Weunydd Hotel, Snowdonia (Eryri), North Wales 

Opening 11 April 2025 

Reopening in April after an extensive refurbishment, Plas Weunydd Hotel will be a new addition to Plas Weunydd’s 2,000-acre site, offering glamping and outdoor activities on the edge of Snowdonia (Eryri) National Park. Located within the historic Llechwedd slate quarry in Blaenau Ffestiniog, this family and dog friendly, four-star boutique hotel will provide a convenient base for outdoor enthusiasts, with Zip World Llechwedd, the Ffestiniog Railway, and miles of hiking and cycling trails on its doorstep. The main hotel will feature 24 contemporary rooms, while those seeking a more immersive experience can opt for glamping tents with wood-burning stoves, BBQs, and pizza-making kits, or spacious shepherd’s huts. The on-site bar and restaurant will showcase locally sourced produce, and offer a menu inspired by Welsh culinary heritage.

Montcalm Mayfair, London, England 

Opening spring 2025 

Reopening in spring 2025 after a two-year renovation, the Montcalm Mayfair (formerly Montcalm Marble Arch) will be a new luxury destination on London’s hotel scene. Located at the top of Park Lane, steps from Hyde Park and the West End, this five-star hotel will offer 150 elegant guest rooms, including three signature suites. The interiors will blend Georgian architecture with contemporary design, featuring bespoke furnishings and curated amenities such as Frette bed linens and Penhaligon’s toiletries. Guests will be able to indulge at the signature restaurant, a destination bar, and a private dining room. The hotel will also boast a subterranean spa with a plunge pool, four treatment rooms, and a fitness suite. Event spaces will include a 400-square-metre Grand Ballroom, accommodating up to 320 dinner guests. 

Murrayshall Country Estate Luxury Pods, Perthshire, Scotland  

Opening spring 2025   

Nestled in 365 acres of picturesque Perthshire countryside, Murrayshall Country Estate is a historic four-star retreat with two scenic parkland golf courses. In spring 2025, the estate will add 22 luxury eco-friendly pod-style cabins to its offering, featuring super-king-sized beds and private Jacuzzis in select units. There will be one-bedroom options for single travellers and couples, as well as larger two-bedroom pods for families and groups. Alongside golf, yoga and wellness options, adventure seekers will be able to enjoy activities such as quad biking trails, archery and axe throwing on the estate. In addition to the pods, the estate is already home to a mix of lavish rooms and suites, alongside several restaurant options. Eolas serves up a selection of top-quality Scottish produce with a menu that changes every six weeks, while Cairns dishes up classic gastro-style dishes with a signature twist. 

Sharrow Bay Hotel, Lake District, Cumbria, England 

Opening in 2025 

Set on the shores of Ullswater, Sharrow Bay Hotel is undergoing a significant relaunch under the ownership of CIEL Hotels, a hospitality group which has locations across Cumbria, including Askham Hall, the George and Dragon and The Queen’s Head. Originally founded in the 1940s, the iconic Lake District establishment was one of the first boutique hotels in the area, renowned for its stunning views. Closed since 2020, the renovation will see a complete transformation of its rooms and public spaces, blending the hotel’s traditional charm with modern luxury. CIEL’s plans for Sharrow Bay include relocating its Michelin-starred restaurant Allium (which won the Taste of England Award in the VisitEngland Awards for Excellence 2024) and its extensive wine collection from its current home at Askham Hall. The hotel will also feature a newly developed spa and wellness area.
