Sir John is the MP for Maldon, first elected in 1992. Sir John was previously appointed Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport from May 2015 to July 2016, and a Minister of State for Media and Data in the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport in February 2020.
