D: People, planet, profit

In the past, business success was defined simply as profit. Many businesses are now challenging that, redefining success to include making a positive difference to people and the planet.

Redefining success

  • Redefining success

Rather than focusing just on the traditional bottom line, more and more responsible businesses are adopting the ‘Triple Bottom Line - people, planet and profit’.

Triple Bottom Line was a term first coined by sustainability pioneer John Elkington. It describes a business model that encourages companies to focus not just on profits, but also on high business integrity and environmental sensitivity – resulting in both successful business strategy and moral business practice.
