VisitEngland and AccessAble collaboration brings benefits to businesses that provide accessibility information for visitors 

Our collaboration with AccessAble that has been helping businesses to promote their accessibility information to customers through the creation of online Detailed Access Guides, has found that it has had a positive impact on visitor numbers. 

A recent evaluation of our two-year collaboration with AccessAble that has been helping businesses to promote their accessibility information to customers through the creation of online Detailed Access Guides, has found that it has had a positive impact on visitor numbers. 

According to the evaluation*, undertaken in March 2026:  

  • One in three businesses reported an increase in visitors with accessibility requirements as a result of producing their Detailed Access Guide. 
  • 25% of businesses reported an increase in overall customers or visitors. 
  • 71% of businesses reported that their knowledge or confidence has increased since producing the Accessibility Guide and 6 in 10 (60%) think perceptions have improved regarding how welcoming their venue is for visitors with accessibility requirements. 
  • 23% of businesses have received feedback from customers indicating that their Detailed Access Guide played a part in them deciding to visit
  • 95% would recommend that other businesses like theirs consider producing a Detailed Access Guide with AccessAble. 

In addition, through our work with AccessAble since 2024, we have: 

  • Unlocked regional partnerships between AccessAble and 28 LVEPs across the country, resulting in new Detailed Access Guides for over 480 businesses 
  • Increased the total number of Detailed Access Guides for tourism venues in England – there are now over 10,000 visitor economy guides 
  • Raised awareness of available accessibility information through dedicated regional and ‘England’ landing pages on AccessAble.co.uk 

The AccessAble project supports our mission to develop an inclusive and accessible visitor economy, help businesses access a share of the £14.6 billion ‘purple pound’, and boost confidence among visitors with accessibility requirements to book an England trip with clear, trusted accessibility information.
