Event Support Programme
The Event Support Programme forms part of VisitBritain's commitment to build the business events sector, supporting the attraction of international business events which align with Great Britain and Northern Ireland’s priority sectors.
VisitBritain has been tasked by government to promote business event tourism through establishment of an Event Support Programme for winning international events, and developing and internationalising growth events already in Britain.
Types of Event Support
Support available from the Event Support Programme can take two forms – financial support or government advocacy/ ‘soft’ support.
We wish to advise that funding applications are open for activity taking place in the 2018/19 financial year (to 31 March 2019).

Please note: There is no guarantee that funding for next financial year will be available, or according to the same criteria as the previous funding rounds. All funding criteria will be clearly stated on this page when the next funding round opens.
Advocacy/ ‘Soft’ Support
VisitBritain and the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) also offers an ongoing programme of brokering 'soft' support/ government advocacy to support Britain's Business Events sector by working with cross-government partners. Support could include, for example: Letters of Support from Ministerial and senior Government figures, Keynote speaker or release of relevant research/white paper. • The criteria for the Event Support Programme is subject to adjustment. Any application received before any programme adjustments will be processed using the criteria in place on submission of application, not the updated criteria.
• VisitBritain, supported by members of the Events Industry Board will convene an Event Support Fund Awards Panel to determine support. If additional information is required in advance during the application process, applicants will be notified.
• All recipients that receive grant funding will be listed on our website, unless deemed commercially sensitive.
