As the tourism delivery partner for the GREAT campaign, we are developing a £5m UK-wide domestic marketing campaign, Escape the Everyday, to inspire consumers to travel and enjoy the country’s amazing tourism offer from this autumn.
We have a country full of people who have been exploring home soil, so we want to tap into this renewed interest in domestic travel by inviting real people to share their local knowledge – and create a movement.
How can you get involved?
To coincide with the campaign launch on 16 September 2020, we will be inviting people to share their favourite ways to “Escape the Everyday” via the VisitEngland social channels.
If you are a destination or tourism attraction or business, you can also get involved in the campaign and help us to generate a buzz by encouraging your fans and customers to share their top three tips for escaping the everyday from launch day onwards. Here’s how:
On your social channels ask people to:
Film a video or capture images of themselves revealing their top three ways to escape the everyday in your destination – that could be anything from the best things to do, to places to eat, and visit. Alternatively, if you’re an attraction or tourism business you could ask people to share their top three ways to escape the everyday at your location. Using Hampton Court as an example:
- Meet Henry VIII and his latest wife
- Experience the splendour of the Tudor court in the Great Hall
- Explore the world-renowned gardens and get lost in the maze
Invite them to post on their social channels, as a Story, in-feed, or as a tweet, using #escapetheeveryday and tagging your destination and @VisitEngland for a chance to be featured on your social pages.
Alternatively, you can also share your three tips for escaping the everyday on your destination or your attraction or business social channels.
