As you may be aware from recent press articles, there is a considerable backlog in the Indian Visa application system, meaning that it is increasingly difficult to get an appointment at one of the India visa offices to complete the visa application process.
We are concerned about the risk this poses to UK passport holders who are required to undertake this in order to get your visa in time for you to book flights and make the necessary arrangements for the mission in January. As you will appreciate, this is a situation beyond our control, that is changing by the day and whilst there is hope that a solution will be reached that will enable UK passport holders to apply for an Indian visa using the electronic system, we do not have clarity on when this might be implemented.
We are monitoring the situation closely and scenario planning for alternative options, but in light of the current circumstances have taken the decision to postpone the Destination Britain India event planned for January 2023 until later in the year.
