Context:

The British Tourist Authority (BTA) is the national tourism agency and an accredited non-departmental public body (NDPB) funded by the Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport (DCMS), and trades under the name of VisitBritain/VisitEngland (VB/VE). The British Tourist Authority is a global organisation with 300+ people based in 19 different countries. The successful candidate will join a passionate and globally diverse and inclusive community

The COVID-19 pandemic has had a great impact on tourism and VB/VE have supported businesses within the industry to navigate their way through Government guidance so they can manage their day to day operations. The role of Project Support Executive would contribute to this activity.

The industry standard project began in March 2020 and resulted in “We’re Good To Go” being launched to industry in June 2020. It has been a key element of VB/VEs support to the tourism industry and now has c50,000 businesses signed up.  This has been in partnership with the nations of: Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. ‘We’re Good To Go’ now links to the worldwide ‘Safe Travels’ initiative, making us the awarding body on behalf of World Travel and Tourism Council. We administer ‘We’re Good To Go’ via an online portal and liaise with over 45 industry bodies and key stakeholders, as well as working in conjunction with our Destination Management Organisations (DMOs) or which there are c157.

VE is currently undertaking a review of existing business support activity and the legacy of ‘We’re Good To Go’ will inform some of this work. The Project Support Executive will assist with the admin functions to enable that.

Main purpose of the role:

The Project Support Executive will assist in areas of administrative and database management, problem solving for industry enquiries and general support to wider teams.  It will also include liaising with our strategic partners with regular up-dates and data analysis, generally via email.

Reporting to the Contracts and Enterprise Manager, this role will also support her in the day to day management of all key contractors i.e. spot check assessors.
