The British Tourist Authority (BTA) is the national tourism agency and an accredited non-departmental public body (NDPB) funded by the Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport (DCMS), and trades under the name of VisitBritain/VisitEngland (VB/VE). VisitBritain is the Government’s Tourism Board and it aims to be the best tourism board in the world. It has responsibility to capture the hearts and minds of tourists to inspire them to visit our great nation.

BTA has operations in the UK and 17 overseas offices, annual expenditure circa £55m, transacting in circa 24 currencies that need to be tightly managed in line with the various frameworks that apply to central government bodies.

We are looking for an experienced Financial Controller to join BTAs Finance team in
London. This is a key role within the organisation and the post holder will support the Director (and Deputy) of Finance in leading the finance team and supporting colleagues across the BTA.

Main purpose of the role:

The successful candidate will lead a team of 4 (and support other staff in UK and overseas offices) in:

  • the provision of all finance operational services (including multi-currency AP, AR T&E etc.)
  • the management of the balance sheet including treasury management
  • ensuing BTA are compliant with central government guidance / frameworks and relevant tax legislation in both the UK and overseas
  • the production of annual statutory accounts.
