Ian Edwards is Chief Executive of ICC Wales and the Celtic Manor Resort, where he leads a workforce of more than 1,000 people and has overseen a dramatic growth in occupancy, revenues and profitability since his return in 2008.
With more than 30 years’ experience in hotels and hospitality, including launching the Edinburgh International Convention Centre and managing hotels in London and Cardiff, Ian has a thorough understanding of the tourism and events industries.
He headed up Celtic Manor’s delivery of two major global events – the 2010 Ryder Cup and the 2014 NATO Summit – and during his time at the helm, Celtic Manor has been voted the UK’s Best Hotel at the Meetings & Incentive Travel Awards for seven of the last eight years. Ian was named Hotelier of the Year at the 2015 European Hospitality Awards.
A newly-appointed Welsh Government Representative on the British Tourist Authority Board, Ian also sits on the board of Newport’s St Joseph’s Hospital and is a Visiting Professor at the University of South Wales.
