Andrew recently joined our VisitEngland Board as part of the UK Board Apprentice Programme. He joins with more than 15 years’ experience in travel and tourism and a wealth of public and third-sector knowledge from a number of volunteer positions he undertakes.

Currently employed as a commercial airline pilot, Andrew is a flight Captain. In addition to this, he’s recently achieved a first-class degree in Politics, Philosophy and Economics, studying in his spare time through the Open University. Prior to his current role, Andrew served in the British Army before retraining as a pilot with Oxford Aviation.

Andrew is a former District Councillor in East Hertfordshire. During his four-year term, he had responsibilities for championing the council’s observance to the Hertfordshire Armed Forces Covenant and chairing the Education Sub-group. In addition to this, he also still currently chairs the Stansted Airport Consultative Committee’s Environmental Issue Group. Beyond his council work and, as a veteran himself, Andrew has long been associated with the Royal British Legion (RBL) and is the Hertfordshire RBL County Chairman.
