Tourism Affairs

The 2011 Government Tourism Policy sets out VisitBritain’s role as the UK’s national tourism agency. In line with other arm’s length bodies, we have cut back on policy and advocacy. The Tourism Policy does however require us to maintain ‘a streamlined advisory function’, in order to provide Government with advice on issues which affect the UK’s international competitiveness or are non-devolved.

Working across the whole of the UK, Tourism Affairs focuses on issues at the heart of global competitiveness: transport infrastructure, the quality of welcome, visas and sustainability. This includes issues like airline seat capacity and aviation infrastructure, air passenger duty and border controls.
