Our Policy Areas

Part of our official role is to ensure that Government policy supports rather than inhibits tourism. So we work with a range of partners to address policy areas which can help our industry to grow. There are five key policy areas which we are addressing on a Britain-wide basis. These are:

• Visas
We want to see easier and cheaper visa processes and a moratorium on extending visa required zones.

 Sustainability
We believe that tourism strategies and developments should be positive for local people and the environment as well as for tourism providers and the visitors themselves

• Welcome
We are leading on a UK-wide programme to deliver an improved visitor welcome by the 2012 Games.

• Transport Infrastructure
We champion greater investment into Britain’s transport infrastructures, particularly high speed rail and airport capacity.

• Taxation and Finance
We are pressing for taxation and regulation reforms that will facilitate greater innovation and improve Britain’s global competitiveness.
