The marketing division focuses on delivering the global marketing campaign, working closely with the partnerships team to ensure that our marketing delivers our objectives and those of our partners. Digital and social media, PR, marketing and relationships with 2012 stakeholders are key areas this division focuses on.

As well as our core marketing team who work to deliver our campaigns and relationships with non-tourism partners, such as TOP Olympic sponsors, we have a number of specialist teams.

Our digital and social media team focuses on developing VisitBritain.com, our main platform for communicating with customers as well as visitbritain.tv, which shows videos from locations around Britain. Social networking continues to grow and is already a vital component of our marketing strategy. We have positioned ourselves on key sites such as Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and Flickr to engage actively with our target audience, ensuring they feel part of a community. Our content is also shared with third party sites, for example Yahoo!

The PR team maintains a central online media centre which includes regularly updated, copyright-free features and previews about new developments, attractions, events, anniversaries and accommodation throughout the UK. A dedicated section profiles Britain’s sporting reputation and its links with the London 2012 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games. We are responsible for annually refreshing the broadcast-quality stock footage that we make available, copyright-free, to broadcasters and film crews around the world. We also work with Olympic Games broadcasters around the world.

The 2012 Games Unit works with departments across VisitBritain and with its strategic partners and stakeholders to add value to their activities and to deliver the tourism legacy benefits of the London 2012 Olympic & Paralympic Games.
